Assess the Demand for Your Niche

After your niche research and before you dedicate time, effort, and money to your niche ideas, you need to make sure that there’s strong demand for your niche.

Let’s use the following 4 steps to assess the demand for your niche.

Step1. Brainstorm a list of most relevant keywords

  • Think what you would type into the search box if you wanted to buy a product or service.
  • Use Google Keyword Tool to check out some keywords related to your niche. Keep your eyes open for any synonyms, variations and suggestions.
  • Come up with 15 keywords for your niche.

Step2. Evaluate keyword search volume using Google Keyword Tool

  • While taking your list of relevant keywords to assess the demand for your niche, you want to look for the keyword that has  a minimum monthly Exact-Match search volume of 2,400 on Google Keyword Tool.
  • The higher the search volume, the stronger the demand.

Step3. List 5 top competitors’ sites in your niche category

  • The top competitors’ sites can be found at the top few sites of the search engine.
  • — On the Organic Search site
  • — On the Paid Search site

Step4. Check the site popularity and traffic estimates for your top competitors’ sites

Once you are done with the above 4 steps, you will have much better ideas on the demand of your niche.

Remember, your niche market has to be a specific group that is actively looking for solutions and willing to spend money on the products, services or information.  If they are not willing to spend money, it means the demand is low and you do not want to get into this niche.  Move on to the next one!  The niches are everywhere!
